Robert Pooley bought the tooling etc. from Wilkinson Sword, so I would go there if you can afford it.
Agree on the Mess Dress, though - mine is excellent and from them in c. 2008

Back in the day we had a guy that was OC that bought a sword - and caused quite a ‘stir’ as we’re not the real Air Force but the Air Cadets.
When people have been asked to carry swords then they go thru some training by RAF Regiment / SWO instructors but thats so rare that the reality is a waste of money and no one will thank you. Leave that to the professionals I’d say…..
We’ve got plenty of arms drill instructors who can happily deliver training for carrying a sword. I’m sure @AlexCorbin loves running such a course!
I feel like I’m going to need a sword soon. It’s mad how many of my colleagues have them.
This is incorrect, they are folding lock knives.
Victorinox are not
We can only carry ours on armed parades I think, SCC don’t have that restriction ![]()
No, we can carry them all the time it appears. But not drawn, that’s only for armed parades.
I borrowed one for remembrance, the manoeuvre to get them from attention to marching literally consisted of throwing it and catching it.
No one needs a sword. If you ever do just get one from service source for the event.
No one needs a sword. If we worked on that principle we’d never have anything fun. Like cake, or beer.
No one needs a sword.
Ditto pacesticks.
I think we should Take all pace sticks and weld them into the 75cm position…
Are you talking about those big dividers that never open?
yes the cleanest litter pickers
I thought you put a pen in one end and use them to draw circles!
*crayon ![]()
Thats only the army and marines, RAF uses quills and byros my friend
Don’t put a crayon in it, someone will no doubt eat it!
Okay, enough bashing the DIs, back to swords!
Stabbing DIs is a little extreme…
not if you’ve been drilled by @TheDon
