I’m not saying it’ll be perfect, let’s not let great be the enemy of good. If it goes some way towards less criminality then we’ll be better for it

I don’t even see that, most of the crime problems related to drugs is addicts stealing to pay for their next hit, doesn’t matter if they are buying it off the bloke on the street corner or the pharmacy in boots. The issue remains that its still highly addictive, that it will still be highly expensive and that most addicts won’t be able to hold down a job, so paying for it remains a crime issue.

Flip the script from criminal to victims, pay the double cost in the short term before rehab rates have dropped through and then crime rates drop as users don’t need to use anymore
