If you were using squadron owned MTP then surely you could charge a deposit? Isn’t the problem just in relation to charging a deposit for blues?
It is allowed. No rules against.
Point I was making is it is wexos who give us grief.

No grief for my WEXO, just an email to highlight it.
They only care about things linked to Public Funds. Non Public Funds are the realm of the CivCom
I would like to issue greens but we would have to pay for it out of Sqn funds. I’ve been told we can’t ask for a deposit, and I can see the issues with ring fencing those funds.
Are there other ways Squadrons do this, that work well?
Making friends with your local ACF can work well for grade 1 MTP…

We point parents in the direction of surplus shops for “greens”, we used to keep a stock of scrounged stuff, but cadets would expect us to have the next size and or replacements, which just became too much hassle. I’ve seen the surplus dealers where you can buy an unseen box of random size and condition. Which is OK as long as you get what you want/need.
I don’t see any situation where new cadets are charged an upfront joining fee. Ironically we all have the cadets whose parents can’t afford to pay for day to day things, so a joining fee? What the hell.
