Cracking place, not change much, I helped with reactivation of the site an RRH which was a model office for the other RRHs and yes Balti towers is still there …
Shame the accommodation has been left to ruin etc
I completely disagree - it found some of the very best officers - which the RAF then nicked.
Saxa at one time was quite a desired posting especially when the alternative was Macrihanish,
Went to Macrihanish as a cadet for summer camp, what a desolate place when you could actually see it through the rain. Had reason to go back there with work about 5 years ago, it was still raining, the drive there was quite nice.
Reminds me of the short lived BBC comedy All Along the Watchtower that aired in 1999. Set in a remote Scottish RAF radar site.
