Beg to differ. Whole service mentality is about getting the job done despite the problems
But as always this job is no different to any other - there will always be business prevention types and jobsworths to overcome - the good leader/manager will always find a way to adapt and overcome
Granted in this litigious world we now live in and the fact that we are dealing with children it is harder to push through these issues or to have the will for a fight that is harder than most service issues.
However, this is about right people in right places to make the most difference. Some of those will need to be FTRS because of how we are managed/structured/parented and some with other background/experiences as I said before. I am sure those in these FTRS posts are there for the right personal reasons to make the ACO better and not as an easy pension topup between rounds of golf.
At the end of the day it is down to those that recruit for these posts to get the right candidates to fill them. I bet AOC22Gp would soon make his views known if he felt the Mgt Team was not delivering
If we are not happy then we need to make sure our qualified views go up the CoC and not whinge online about FTRS salaries (believe me there are many things I am not happy about)
I am sure SMT meetings for the ACO and RAF can be just as those in large corporate organisations - I have sat through meetings in business where I have often asked myself if I am on the same planet as the Directors/Board Members. What we need is people who can translate 'policy' from the top to effective action at the customer level and manage feedback back
