Ive used cherry blossom polish on my parade shoes and now their ruined, i will not be buying new shoes.
In what sense are they ruined?
I would just strip off the polish and start over again, but not with Cherry Blossom. Use something like Saphir/Kiwi (I learnt the hard way) because in my experience Cherry Blossom made my shoes look more blunt than polished honestly
@liban_patriot ive stipped of the polish but the polish left marks on my shoes that i cant remove. I tried to polish with a diffrent brand (generic) but you could still see the marks, I dont want to get shout at by my flight sargent again lol.
Do this. Use kiwi black or saphir medallion d’or
You shouldn’t be getting shouted at because your shoes aren’t shiny. If that happens it needs reporting.
Generic polish is going to be most likely horrible, even if the low price tag seems “worth it”. Just explain the issue to your FS and I am sure they would be willing to co-operate. Understandably if they aren’t aware of your predicament they’re going to assume otherwise👍
I was going to try saphir on my combat boots, do you know what colour i should get because there are diffrent shades of brown on the website to buy.
In all honesty, clear or neutral. It won’t hide any big scuffs but will protect the leather.
I like the altberg polish for boots. Saphir is really designed for a high gloss finish
I also use Altberg polish for boots. They have a colour called ‘MOD brown’, which removes all doubt.
Yeah this, keeps it simple
I was told (by Altberg) not to use their polish on Goretex lined boots. Fine for their own issued boots, which don’t have Goretex.
Never tried it so can’t say if it is okay or not
So much this.
The Altberg “polish” (Ledergris / Lederglos) is much more of a wax than a polish.
Regular polish will turn Altberg boots purple.
But it depends on the brand of boots.
It happens to all boots if you use “dark tan” which is what people who bought Kiwi (RIP) would usually buy. Ledergris is just easier, boots don’t need to be mirror shiny.
There is now ledergloss which gives all the protection of the gris with a nice shiny finish to make crusty WOs and RSMs happy
I don’t think boots need to be (or should be) shiny at all. Black/brown and clean is all I ask for.
I like a hint of a shine as it means something has actually been used on the boots. If they are pure matt, they might have only been cleaned with water, which won’t take care of the boots. I wear AKUs most of the time though.
How do you clean them? gen curious, because it looks like the padding in my Rugby boots and i just use a tooth brush for that
Just a boot brush and running water.
Does the water
not go in the boot?
