But that was then, this is now. Oh for pasta and loo roll. Perhaps the parliamentary responses will come of soft & absorbent paper…
You can’t be sarcastic and p-a about something that happened 2 weeks ago because of the situation now.
It’s in the system and if that system will be affected I’m sure there is a tasking to issue responses as such.
I’m sure you are right. I just think that everyone’s time could be better used presently. That includes the RAFAC departments.
And all of the relevant departments will make decisions themselves to prioritise their time accordingly…
I think you will find that the RAFAC is ‘DEAD’ for the foreseeable future
Wash your mouth out with bleach.
Then some pumice please.
From the IOC Website. A sensible belt and braces solution. “Wait out”.
## FOI and the coronavirus: a measured approach
The ICO recognises the unprecedented challenges all are facing during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
In particular we understand that resources, whether they are finances or people, may be diverted away from usual compliance or information rights work. Whilst we can’t extend statutory timescales, we will not be penalising public authorities for prioritising other areas or adapting their usual approach during this extraordinary period.
To further support our information rights colleagues, we will tell people through our own communications channels that they may experience understandable delays when making information rights requests during the pandemic.
We are a reasonable and pragmatic regulator, one that does not operate in isolation from matters of serious public concern. Regarding compliance with information rights work when assessing a complaint brought to us during this period, we will take into account the compelling public interest in the current health emergency.
Correction: should of course read ICO NOT IOC…although we will undoubtedly get an update from them very soon!!!
Just to keep you all updated, initial MP response below… (all names redacted but more than happy to forward the email if someone wants me to?)
Dear XXX
Thank you for contacting XXX MP about your concerns about sales of motor-gliders to Aeromobility. I am responding on her behalf.
We appreciate your patience in waiting for a response during this current time.
As requested, our office has contacted the National Audit Office to raise your concerns with them directly. When the NAO responds, we will contact you again.
Kind regards
XXX
Senior Parliamentary Assistant to XXX MP
I got a placeholder:
"Good morning xxx,
I am just writing to let you know that your enquiry to xxx regarding the decision to sell 63 Vigilant motor-gliders to Aerobility has not been forgotten but we must prioritise helping people affected by coronavirus at present.
We will look into your query as soon as possible."
What!.. they need to look at their priorities!
Let them know you are affected by the 'Rona (or rather it’s impact) and you still want an answer!
Interesting to read in the latest edition of Flight Training News, that negotiations for the sale between the MOD and Aerobility started in September 2018!!!
Can you show that or is it on their website? Our magazine goes to the unit…
Unbelievable… someone is getting ‘a cut’ somewhere. Only thing which explains this level of gross stupidity.
Well, as & when FoI questions / House of Lords tabled questions finally get answered, it will interesting cross-referencing the different versions!
Couldn’t find anything on their website.
Well, an initial reply to my FoI has arrived - don’t hold your breath!!
I am writing to confirm that MOD holds some information on the subject you have requested.
However, I have to advise you that we will not be able to answer your request without
exceeding the appropriate limit. This is because to locate, retrieve and extract information in
scope of your request would involve at least some six weeks of effort.Section 12 of the Act makes provision for public authorities to refuse requests for information
where the cost of dealing with them would exceed the appropriate limit, which for central
government is set at £600. This represents the estimated cost of one person spending 3.5
working days in determining whether the department holds the information, and locating,
retrieving and extracting it.The MOD may be able to provide some information in scope of your request if you reduce or
refine your request for Questions 1-16 to bring the cost of compliance under the limit.
However, due to the wide scope of your request I have found it difficult to easily propose
how to refine it to remain within the appropriate limit. For instance, we could provide some
information for Questions 10, 12 and 14. Please contact me if you would like to refine your
request or require advice on doing so.
Hmmm, time for a think!
Sounds like something for your MP to push, they can no go and say “well we know you have information so stump it up”
Send to my friendly Lord already - waiting to see if there has progress on any of their written questions.
However, MP will be next.
