Friendship Boundries

HQAC didn’t care about a 24ish CI and a 17 year old cadet Sgt shacking up together after meeting at the squadron when I was a cadet. I doubt they are going to care about a four year old friendship continuing on Facebook as long as you don’t abuse that friendship in cadets.

So in reality I’ve got nothing to worry about

Pretty much, because I can fix a previous comment for you:

Their concern is an “abuse of power” which is a serious issue when it comes to safeguarding.

The first part of this is somewhat anti-safeguarding from and external perspective, but…

  1. Lock down your social media security settings to avoid snooping at your friends list
(generally good personal security and safeguarding advice anyway)
  2. Keep the friendship outside the gates/off activity
  3. Remain professional in your staff cadet/ranked role
  4. Don’t show favouritism

Have a conversation with your friend about the boundaries you need to set.

As for the outside meet up thing:

I reckon you can cover that bit in bold.
