The only time they’re seen out of a flying suit is when they’re wearing 1s or 5s - both of which they have wings on.

Probably where the desire to wear them on shirts came from.
I had heard about this too! Wasn’t sure if true or not, but certainly believeable.

for RAF 100 there was a very large parade at RIAT. Being RIAT and July jumpers were not worn…march past of several 100 cadets and not one DofE badge in sight…comment made, reactions kicked in, action = badge on brassard
