There was a period where WHT quality was quite poor.
If a cadet had got to month 5 & especially if they hadn’t live fire fired since their last WHT then it made sense to have them retest.
This isn’t the situation with the flying forms - it’s more analogous to a cadet passing a WHT and then been made to redo a WHT a month later because the the amount of rounds you need to load in the magazine for the test has changed number.

I’m just saying, we can’t rely on what is currently a post on an internet forum when we’ve got policy that implies the contrary!

You mean to say someone has written wording in a policy and not considered the implications of that wording, and then given a different answer verbally without editing the initial policy?

You are saying here that the CFMO is providing input to the acceptability of Avmeds and the conditions which prohibit flight, but can’t support GPs which may have allowed a cadet to fly?
This situation is wrong and unsustainable - Either the CFMO needs to back off this process entirely allowing the GP to be the final arbiter, the RAFAC provides their own medical function or the CFMO is given the resource to support cadets fully. Through zero fault of their own our young people are missing out in our key offering, some may go further and say discriminated against.

Anyway, I’ve emailed the CFMO (I know one of his cohorts very well).
We really need an e-version that can be linked to Bader - & parents / guardians!
I appreciate that the AEFs don’t have access to Bader, but there has to be a way to avoid this repetition / paper admin faff with a stored form, linking to a cadet’s 3822 information & / or augmented to cover the Av Med form.
Cadets selected to go flying → parents / guardians get automatic email to confirm no change to medical status → subsequently, pull up the report (composite basis such as contacts list or aviation criteria) & print at sqn.
That strikes me as a fairly simple one to solve, give OC and Adj access? Is there a specific reason they can’t?

I’ve just spoken to the author of ACTO31 and the AvMed form.
Contrary to what I was told by the CFMO, v4s should not be used going forward. Please use v5s. Any current 6424s can still be used with a v5 as per the ‘Assessment/Decision’ column on the Av Med Form.
Because we aren’t RAFAC and access to BADER isn’t really required. We have asked in the past but been told point blankly no.
That seems a bit short sighted as although you don’t need access to most of it, having access to cadets’ records when they attend AEF seems a sensible way forward?

A “sub-optimal” decision by the author.
What was the rationale?
The change to v5 = no ability to sign off new F6424s (understandable until new process is set up). It should NOT negate any previous versions (valid / in-date) of the Av Med Form 1- no changes for a cadet with zero medical issues (all boxes ticked as NO).
The problem is compounded (for us & other local sqns) by a very recent announcement that the Cranwell AEF sqn will no longer be able to conduct weekend flying. As happened to us recently, we have had only a few days notice to accept short-notice weekday slots - whilst there are other logistical issues, the primary one is having the completed Av Med Form 1 “in the hand.” Most sqns will have a folder of completed Av Med forms to be able to react to this - with v5 just issued, unless RAFAC rescind the requirement of this being the only version, there will be a lot of printing to do (& a lot of confused parents!).
