"Cutting Edge Technology"

Maybe the NCOs parents wouldn’t let them have a computer. In contrast the German BfV have gone back to usjng typewriters for certain documents mainly because their security protocols leak to China and Russia, or like the Luftwaffe general who comprised security over a civil network.

Especially as the Digital Team are considering the idea of “adopting” sqn’s Chromebooks etc into the organisations Google Classroom environment so it’ll be Single-Sign-On with their Cadet Portal account.

But I’d also prefer a “full” os for being able to install something like FlightGear.

New fangled rubbish

Whilst I am all in favour of open source generally, I am not convinced it is worth the hassle for day to day admin computing (great as a cadet project).

It’s also possible that some parts of Bader will need Windows to run properly, colleagues with Macs seem to struggle with using it sometimes, perhaps because a lot of it is Microsoft tech.

That seems very odd.

Hope they remember to dispose of the ink ribbon securely. Or check the machine for touch key devices…

Old school in new school world isnt necessarily more secure, just because it feels ‘at odds’, ‘asymmetric’ or ‘secure’ doesnt mean it is!

Keystroke monitoring is a very real threat for the security services. The BfV like the French security services leak like sieves.

I have an old iMac running ChromsOS Flex and can sign into it using my Bader M365 credentials rather than a Google account. Will this be why?

I was under the impression that you currently couldn’t sign in using Bader Adult or Cadet credentials, but yes that’d be why.

I’ve only signed in that way once, but it had a RAFAC desktop background and everything.

Ribbons are old hat.

The golf ball typewriters and Telex printers made by IBM could be listened to remotely.

Indeed.

All this old hat tech is definitely not more secure!

Indeed.
Lost paper documents still account for a decent number of privacy breaches.
