Just to throw another viewpoint across. I wouldn’t get too hooked up on Directors Insurance. I would argue it is over the top for the majority of Sqns and that the funds would be better utilised elsewhere. Director and Officer liability insurance covers ‘wrongful acts’, for instance if you mislead, neglect or breach your duty or trust. It only covers you to defend yourself in court against an allegation in which most are claims of compensation. If, however, you breach the law, such as make a fraudulent application, falsify accounts etc, then you’re on your own anyway. I’m a MD, I run a business exporting product all over the globe but I do not have D&O liability. Even if your Sqn is an independent registered charity (which I would encourage!!) then I still wouldn’t suggest this level of cover is required.
