The whole “rebrand” was a “let’s make my mark” thing by the last Commandant, with the issue that the branding has begun to erode everything else.
As you say it only replaced ACO but people act as if it did both.

I think from what I heard it was an AOC22grp /CAS thing which also kicked off the Astra program classing us as “strategically drifted”
I’ve spoken to a few people in my ongoing info-gathering prior to my eventual application to rejoin the org, and a couple have made comments to the effect “I’m commissioned in the RAFAC, the ATC branding doesn’t exist”.
Clearly too fresh to remember officers being RAF VR(T) but still very much in the ATC or CCF(RAF).
What does the commission scroll say for ATC officers? Is it ATC or RAFAC? Mine says I’m commissioned into the Combined Cadet Force(Royal Air Force) and that was produced after the switch to RAFAC and loss of VR commissions.
Mine says Air Training Corps
“…Appoint you to be an officer in the Air Training Corps…”
Just checked mine now, issued last year for a 2021 commission.
BUT - it’s true to say that the ATC branding does appear to be being diluted with time.
There are many, many threads to discuss the commissions. Please keep this for the enrolment changes.
Sorry. I wasn’t trying to turn it into a commission one, was just exploring what terminology was used where to try and understand the enrollment change
We had to attest some people into our regt the other week and I suddenly realised that the padres had somehow slipped references to god and a creator into the non-religious version…
Who thought it was appropriate to let them anywhere near the version that wasn’t created for them?
What do your two versions actually say?
Mine says Royal Air force Volunteer Reserve (Training)
