Is d of e a requirement for promotion or going to camp?
Not in any policy for either.
I can think of no reason that DofE would be a prerequisite for any camp though there are some higher level adventure training events that might favour it, and for promotion I wouldnāt expect any unit to have it written into requirements but it is something that would boost a candidateās experience and skill to prepare them better for promotion.
To this day Iām still sour my OC (new to position) at the time didnāt put me in for CWO as I hadnāt done Gold DofE or JL.
In hindsight he obviously just didnāt like me personally and was needlessly putting barriers up instead of having the spine to tell 19 year old me directly.

Oh no, you hadnāt done the expensive, intensive, incredibly time consuming, and ablist specialist course that isnāt within everyoneās area of interest.
Yeah that OC was out of order. Thereās very little that would stop me from recommending an 18/19 y.o. FS for CWO. If youāve done enough and been deemed suitable enough to make it that far, usefully get yourself to off unit activities, and havenāt fallen off the face of the planetā¦
