Cadet Forces Expansion - Split From SDR 2025

Where is the CFAV in the photo with the L98?

Probably an army cadet. Previous photo shot is deffo ACF and the photos in the article relate to the article.

At least its not staring down the barrel of the gun!!

Based on the label behind the magazine housing, I’d put good money that it is an ACF Cadet, and having just reviewed our (Army Cadets) most recent Media policy (March 2026), there is no specified requirement for a CFAV to be in the frame, however there are other requirements, and quite a strongly worded paragraph on perception, including

“thorough scrutiny of images or video is required to ensure there is no perception where it could look like the safe system of training and risk assessments are not being followed.”

I saw an Instagram photo of exactly that the other day, should have screenshoted it.

TIL this has been updated.

Edit to add:

Photographing live or blank fire exercises must clearly show supervision is in place

^ so still often a requirement

Sorry for any confusion - I am talking about the Army Cadets Media and Communication Policy, CFSO 5001, (within which the word ‘supervision’ returns no results).

the photo is credited to the BFBS - so it would be their policy on the situation that is relevant.

this is not a ATC/RAFAC/ACF article, so difficult to claim any ownership over it given it is not our article, or our photo

it is no different to someone taking a photo during a public event and reporting it with uniform errors - however i will concede that the photo could only be taken with someone approved to be on the range - either the BFBS photographer or a CFAV
