Interesting…
Thought the MOD wasn’t allowed to use 3rd party LLMs?

Interesting role, but trying to secure someone who’s PRINCE2 qualified for less than £30k is a bold call.
I wouldnt even get out of bed for that.
Maybe ive become salary snobby
79% of the average UK Salary, plus a DB CS Pension, not far from being close to the average …
Prince 2 practioner can easily walk into 70k a year without really trying
Assuming you can afford to defer a big chunk of your income, and actually make it to retirement age
Geez.
Talk about the pension all you like, but that’s a grand less than the starting for the first tier of management in Sainsbury’s.
But when the jobs are CS, what do you expect. There is nothing HQAC can
They could try not asking for qualifications that a) don’t appear to be necessary for the role and b) are incompatible with the salary that they’re able to offer.
Not much more than an AS1 and less than a day 1 Off Cdt
Reading the job spec & the portfolio size & its complexity I’m surprised it came out a band D when its looks more suited to a band C HEO
Lots of autonomy & lots of responsibility - it almost reads like an enhanced volunteer coordinator role.
Rule of thumb of converting civil service to regular military is to double the C.S. Pay to get an idea of the rough military grade.
So in this case band D @ £30k is roughly equivalent to experienced FLt Lt/newish Sqn Ldr / experienced FS
Except most of the C2s I know are ex-cpls, doing the same jobs they did as AS1s and cpls; although, one is an ex-colonel.
Goes to show how the package is designed to include an Armed Forces pension and this becomes the defining factor between people on the same grade.
Exactly. I was at a county defence employer recognition event recently and my Wing Co and the Lord Lt were having a discussion on how hard it is to get staff to take on CCF positions.
I couldn’t help myself and piped up with the ‘100% volunteer staff aside, it’s based on the old model of a ‘retired’ ex-regular supplementing the low CCF salary with their forces pension. And to really kick the CCF to life the salary expectations need revisiting as I have had to over look a few opportunities where I couldn’t afford the salary drop, yet would absolutely love to do the job.’
I was given a look that said ‘we know that but no-one is allowed to actually say that out loud in public’.
Exit stage left.
Sadly, the same for many Police jobs, such as Firearms Liaison Officers, £28K - £29K for a 38 hr week - you can get about the same sitting on the till at a local supermarket.
Decided to check this for a laugh. It’s right.
A Tesco “store colleague” working 38 hours per week every week at a store within the M25 comes away with £27.8k per year.
Slightly related….
Where abouts again on sharepoint does it show all current available national and regional jobs?
I don’t it does - often the postings on these threads are for paid jobs & listed on national websites such as civil service jobs.
I know C&E Region weekly Mail Drop covers their area and I thought the Weekly HQAC drop covers nothing at Corps level
Realistically, they need to start talking about it. The armed forces has been cut in half since 1990, which means there are far less ex-regulars about looking for jobs to supplement their pensions than there used to be. They need to offer something to people who might be looking at a change of career to do the job, but they can’t pay their mortgage with ‘community spirit’.
It might also help to attract some younger people to the job. Do you want all your staff to be retired ex-regulars?
