Brize "attack"

What a sad little life that must be.

If those ebikes are the station ebikes used to get around the place - that’d be like a double whammy!!!

If I understand correctly, this was a protest against the UK being directly involved in the Gaza conflict (which it isn’t, anyhow) but may lead to the aircraft not being available to support Ukrainian refuelling missions in Eastern Europe. Meaning the only potential winner from this action is Russia.

I’ve no issue against peaceful protest - it’s a key part of a democratic society - but I do wish some protestors would think their actions through before committing to them.

Nah, they wouldn’t have done that - not signed the relevant orders, riding at speed near parked aircraft contrary to ramp safety instructions, failure to wear a reflective belt, didn’t complete a test ride under supervision, failure to do a “before journey” scooter inspection, tsk tsk!!

‘Palestine Action’ appears likely to be proscribed on Monday.

Is it worse for UK credibility that it was an activists rather than a hostile terrorist or active sabotage attack?

If they had blown up the planes it would have been one thing but to just spray them like a school prank just seems humiliating.

Rather that than they were blown up? They’ve done us a favour really. Demonstrated a vulnerability and didn’t cause any lasting harm.

To be realistic which one do you think the Security Services are watching?

It’s alright, can’t do it again, they are going to be banned.

Why has the threat level not been increased to critical after such an awful terrorist attack?

What effect is this going to have on cadet forces at camps etc.

Probably because there is no Intel to suggest that they are looking to do it again.

Given BZN is the UK’s main, if not only, multi engine capability, we should be treating it as critical national infrastructure with the highest levels of security and protection.

I think we need a backup Brize tbh, so much could go catastrophically wrong for RAF capabilities if there was ever a serious sabotage incident there.

Pssst, nope, also elsewhere. Very valuable assets.

The whole basing strategy needs reviewing, we’ve cut too much capacity too quickly.

Keeping Scampton, Lynham, Linton and Kinloss (or perhaps Leuchars) would have given some operational redundancy, as they all have main stations nearby.

Then start looking at sites that could be leased out but brought into operation quickly (keep the runways in working order but stick solar panels on them).

Then alternative dispersal at civilian airfields, and motorways etc.

Just reading on BBC now. The Government are looking to proscribe Palenstine Action on Monday. Making them and being a member of them illegal.

Kinloss and Leuchers were used in the recent past when work was done on the runway at Lossie.

Scampton would need buying back and a lot of work. St Mawgan is still open. Move the RAF Regiment back to Catterick, out of Honnington and reopen the airfield. Get back into Finningley.
