Bright coloured hair

Agreed. But should we really use gender discrimination as a motive for this conversation?
Rules should be updated. But as said above, methinks, you joined this organisation parented by the raf and agreed to the code of conduct and follow orders ect. Maybe dying your hair isnt the best decision. But you should honestly talk to your staff and if need be up the chain of command.
We as a uniformed organisation promote equality and identity but only as long as ot follows the dress regs. In all fairness though they should be changed a bit. Maybe do this in free time where you have leave- or find a way to hide it? Im not sure. Do whatever your staff want you to do because quite frankly none of us have a say we can only tip you in the right way collectively.

By the way welcome to the forum! Enjoy your time here

Just as long as its NOT ginger

Are female cadets (or those who identify as female) allowed beards?

Im actually not sure.
However ive heard that identifying as a gender means following their dress regs.since women dont have beards, maybe not. Maybe talk to someone like a WO or something.

You do realise this is nonsense right? The dress regs don’t trump equality law, and the fact they still discriminate by sex is ridiculous. I’ve been pointing out to HQ for years that the regs are unlawful.

some women do have beards as they suffer from conditions such as PCOS, which can cause growth of facial hair

Thats what we’re told.
Thry said to us that as long as we followed that genders dress regs we may do as we please. Thatmight not be the same everywhere but it is for us
However i do agree with you that the regs can be unlawful at times

Ye of course. But hopefully gender identity fits under being acceptable

As an organisation we have rules and a code of conduct. We do not have regulations backed up by the Air force Act. As Baldrick said regs do not trump law.

If we are trying to enforce something that is illegal then the unit and the RAFAC could find its self in a tricky situation. ACP 1358 still explicitly dictates different rules for males and females.

I’m sorry but for those that DIDN’T realise I was of course making a joke at the expense of some of the nonsense spouted here… if we go back a few years this sort of discussion would have been derided, when you joined the Corps (yes I joined the Air Training Corps back in 1975) you would have been kicked off the squadron if you didn’t conform to RAF dress regulations…

Yes, we have moved forward and onward in 48 years but really!

If only it was as simple as a “military themed youth club” as we could then scrap all applicable AP’s, JSPs have independent governance on ACP’s with no AEF opportunities or access to limited but available RAF camps and tours etc. The very first part of what RAFAC is under its mission statement lays out the exact point "We are a uniformed youth organisation. The ACP’s policies are procedures are there as such, if you don’t want to align to them don’t be apart of the organisation
