Big Announcement Monday?

I’m actually a bit disheartened by the cynicism on this thread. HQAC try and do something positive and do we care? No. I simply don’t understand it. It’s not like we’ve appointed somebody off TOWIE or BGT.

Maybe it’s a reflection of the feelings we volunteers have about our senior leadership in general? In this case if feel it’s unjustified.

while i wouldn’t disagree that the rampant cynicism is based on the concept on that whatever comes out of HQAC is usually drivel, this has come out of HQAC, ergo its drivel…

however, in objective terms its still drivel - a big announcement about the ACO would have been that Regional HQ’s have been scrapped, or that HQAC had managed to scavenge 100 new minibuses, or that a major business/organisation was going to ‘sponsor’ the ACO to the tune of £mucho, or that 50% or the admin returns expected of each Sqn were being binned. ‘big’ things effect everyone - that Chris Hoy is going to be an ‘ambassador’ (i thought we already had 50,000 of those…) for the ACO affects only those members of HQAC media team who want his autograph.

that an ex-cyclist thought that that the ACO was ‘cool’ is not a big announcement for an organistion with 10,000 staff, 40,000 cadets, 900 sub-units, that goes flying, shooting, climbing - and has massive staffing, morale, funding and leadership problems: it barely registers on the ‘meh’ index.

that HQAC think its a big announcement is however yet another indication of quite how removed they are from the reality of Sqn life, and therefore feeds into an already well established view that if the HQAC and regional HQ’s were fired into the moon, nobody would notice, and only then to realise that the earth had got a bit lighter, and its average IQ had gone up.
