Ammunition Escorts - New announcement

The rules for ACF transporting stuff are EXACTLY the same as they are for us (its an MOD edict, not ATC/ACO, not HQAC, not RAF) … just that (some) ACF knowingly ignore the regs.

bonza,

I don’t understand… have you asked about doing a joint shoot with your CCF(Army) section? Then they can move the weapons and ammo, and RAF gold-plating rules needn’t apply?

If your Army section won’t even discuss it then you need a chat with your Contingent Commander to sort things out… Let me guess, he’s Army?

Would you like me to have a word?

In our county the full-time RFCA personnel (technically ACF) move as much ammo as far as they like single-manned.

Our Cadet Training Team have also given themselves the authority to do so (on OC’s sign-off). Technically according to JSP440 I can do the same as the OC; but in practice we’ve been forbidden from doing so.

Who decided upon this bizarre and entirely arbitrary rule and why?[/quote]
SO1 A4 Ops at Air Command published the original letters, though we suspect the rules were agreed higher up than that.

Thanks. So why is transporting arms and ammunition 100 miles or 200 miles any less secure than carrying it 50 miles?

Goodness knows. Maybe the logic is extra time on the public roads = higher risk of a accident? Or, longer distances would probably involve a “comfort stop” = only one person would be with the vehicle at any one time?

It really does make me laugh when you consider what can be carried privately by someone with a FAC & we certainly are not in the same transport category as the Army moving truckloads of “bang” with an NEQ that is off the scale. What chance to get limited dispensation with the regulations linked to the realities of cadet organisation requirements?
