Budgets & accounting really but other than the walty culture & basically playing spin & PR (like the raf regiment claiming their “aces” for surface 2 air kills) its something that’s not worth the energy fighting.
What is the result if the HQAC do listen & reverse ferret? - money wasted & no appreciable change to overall productivity
Grumble & move on - there are better things to waste the energy of frustration on & the aircrew rank serves better as example to challenge culture elsewhere than the specific issue itself.

Yep, retrograde step to bin OASC boarding.
Having been an instructor at DIOT, there are several RAFAC staff who wouldn’t be if I could have had a say! Same for the glorified ranks…..
And there are identifiers to ensure that equivalency is not inferred (including on CFAV and FSC ‘aircrew’ rank slides).

To be fair, I have met some regular RAF officers recently I wouldn’t let throw a pancake - utter dross seem to be getting through now as they are so short on officers. People coming out of Cranwell who can’t make a decision and have absolutely no life expereince.
