Advertising the Intake - Create the Demand

Will someone think of the topic… TOPL can always be a new one

Been there, done that. They don’t recognise that some groups have a genuine and legitimate reason to “discriminate”. I got so bored waiting for the appeal that I just changed the ad and fought the fires. Got me a few contact details for the next couple of years though.

However, wouldn’t pay for it from Sqn funds. We had a good response, but reeling them in after was a nightmare.

Self promoting by sharing on local groups and getting engagement from cadets and family is a good enough way to go.

A small Squadron is less likely to be able to take advantage of those benefits - they can’t afford to let cadets lose interest while waiting because intakes aren’t large anyway.

It does make training a little easier, but you still have to account for missed sessions.

We run a combination - we push for an intake in schools and SM, but don’t turn away walk-ins in the interim.

On 4 squadrons I’ve seen the intake system there has been an evening but hold the actual intake open for a month to allow for any who couldn’t make the evening…
I’ve never been concerned by low numbers that come along as being a single hut space is limited. If it balances the losses that is fine.

You just need to have an awareness of potential limiting factors before saying this is what we do.
